Why not consider a blue tooth car kit

One of the reasons for installing a blue tooth car kit in your car can be an urge to remain a law-abiding citizen. In most states, holding a mobile handset while driving is a punishable offence and in some states, the penalty is fairly high. In the UK it has been an offence to use a cell phone whilst driving for some time but people still flout this law so soon the law is changing and offenders will also get penalty points on their license.

A blue tooth car kit provides the facility of communication through your phone without the task of holding the equipment while driving through a congested part of a town. Another advantage the blue tooth car kit provides is that it comes minus the jungle of wires and jacks that some others have. So it is not messy at all.

Some of the user-friendly options of the blue tooth car kit include headsets or speakers that attach to your sun visor or can be placed on the center console as an example of simple trouble-free installation. Superb blue tooth technology assures sparkling sound quality and distortion free communication even under stressful conditions. With some models, you can leave your phone in your coat pocket or briefcase yet make calls through the headset.

Yet another break through innovation of the blue tooth is the touch-screen capabilities of the LCD screen that can be mounted on your car's dashboard or console. This helps with dialing numbers that are not programmed into speed or voice dial. Caller ID is also displayed if your phone includes that service. However nothing can beat the infrared control that mounts to your steering wheel for making or answering a call whilst still keeping one eye fixed to the road in front.

The novelty of the blue tooth car kit does not end here. Your car radio will go mute when the phone is making or receiving a call, provided your radio is smart enough to have that feature. Though most Blue Tooth Car kits cost around $100 to $250, the one with LCD screen may be available at around $400.

However, the cost of a blue tooth car kit is more than offset when you think in terms of safety provisions that this little gadget gives you. On top of all that consider the cost of the penalty when you get caught holding your cell phone on a busy street corner, negotiating traffic.

Despite claims made by other makers of 'hands-free' car cell phones, the blue tooth car kit is by far the more advanced, cost efficient and user-friendly in today's market. The call quality of a blue tooth car kit is also far superior.

What you need to know about cool desktop image

It is a well-known fact that the ideal desktop picture can really make a difference, in fact a greater difference than most people realize. Have you ever thought about it? Just like a majority of the people, for sure you probably put a lot of effort into decorating your environs. Sure, you may keep your room neat and in order, check that all the furniture is properly arranged, and decorate the walls with posters or paintings. But though you spend several hours every day looking at your computer screen, you probably rarely, if ever, look for a nice desktop image to really cheer up your day, and make your computer monitor look spiffy.

For some, may not yet have realized how easy it is to find desktop wallpaper. There are thousands of websites that offer desktop images, but you are by no means restricted to these sites. In fact any picture that you have on your computer can be used as a desktop image. You simply have to load it onto your windows memory as wallpaper, and you can then either tile it, or put it up in the center of the screen. Or you can even stretch it to fill the whole screen if the image is not big enough by itself, and that will look very nice, you can be sure.

For me, I prefer to change my desktop image at least once every week and sometimes more often. The desktop image is simply a piece of decoration to change, that why not make sure that you always have a fresh and pretty one up.

If I have been smitten with the travel bug, I might put up a desktop image featuring some exotic destination. Perhaps it will feature the beaches of Fiji, or the ruins of Machu Picchu. It really does not matter, because as long as it is a desktop image of somewhere far away, it will be guaranteed to make me feel better about spending my day doing nothing but sitting in my little cubicle.

Whenever I look at that desktop image, even if my body might stay in the same place, my mind will be traveling to on a beautiful and magical vacation all of the way across the world. And imagine, all this takes place through the sheer power of a computer download! It is fascinating how easily that decor can change your mood, and I encourage you to take advantage of this fact.

Mp3 and mp4 players

The mp3 has always been the main strength of music format since the year 1993 when the technology was first introduced. But the recent advent of the more compressed and wondering version of audio format – mp4 – upon the scene, has modified everything within its grasp with more aestheticism in the perception of digital sound. However, the general flock usually wonders as to how actually the mp4 tends to differ from the mp3 units. While some assume that the mp4s are more compressed, which makes it smaller as compared to the same audio files in mp3 format, some other thinks that the two are entirely different technologies.

There are many common features between the mp3 and mp4 players, while many points of distinctions do also exist. While comparing the two technologies the most significant point that strikes the mind first is that the mp4 format has come up with all the properties to make up the shortfalls of the mp3. As a matter of fact the quality of perception of the two files of same bit rates is much better with the mp4 format as compared to the mp3s.

Mp3 Structures And Players

Since the 1993, most of the downloadable symphonies and songs come in the mp3 format that allows the music lovers to stores their favorites in relatively smaller amount of space in the hard drive. To be very candid the mp3 format has been cursed with a series of limitations and drawbacks, which restrict the efficiency of its coding process. The limitations are as follows:

• Mp3 fails to switch the joint stereo mode for any specified scale factor bands. The joint stereo option, in case of mp3 technology, has to be used for all the bands that in turn tend to limit the use of joint stereo.

• The inoptimal window sizes result in the inoptimal time/frequency resolution in the mp3.

• The last i. e. the 21st scalefactor band for both the long and the short blocks has no own scalefactors

• The missing properties are, however, the Long Term Prediction (LTP), Temporal Noise Shaping (TNS), Spectral Band Replication (SBR) and Perceptual Noise Substitution (PNS).

Mp4 structures and players

Mp4 is basically a “container” and hence it has the potential to carry the video files along with the audio ones. Hence is the basic point to difference between the mp3 and mp4 is that the mp4 contains both the audio and video at the same time, whereas the mp3 format supports only the audio files. Within a very short spell of time the mp4 formats is expected to come with the mixed streams of both audio and video at the same time. The mp4 players basically allow you to realize something better and bigger than you can imagine. It is entirely a new concept known as Structured Audio and is a mode of describing the sound in an ultra-modern way. The mp4 technology is more potent description of sound that is going to be the future standard for the computer music, gaming audio, and varieties of multimedia applications altogether.

What do you know about voip headset

The world of business seems to be king these days. Big companies are prospering and making millions in profit whilst continually looking for the next technological solution that could save them more money and increase their profit margins. Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VOIP, has been one of the more recent innovations to hit businesses all over the world and has revolutionized call centres and offices everywhere! The VOIP headset and the benefits that it has introduced into the marketplace has certainly exceeded everyone’s expectations and infinitely helped the work environment to improve.

VOIP is the communication technology to have in the workplace today. Instead of having to operate a switchboard to make and receive calls, which was a massive drain on the financial efficiency of many call centres, you can do it all through the computer! As soon as the necessary software is loaded onto a system or computer, the individual working on that machine can take and make calls until their heart’s content! Of course, VOIP can be used at home as well to make calls to your friends and family as and when you want to, but it is essential to have the necessary headset to enjoy the full features and benefits of VOIP wherever you are at any given time!

There is a vast array of benefits associated with VOIP headsets, some of which are outlined below:

• VOIP headsets are more efficient than regular telephones – The headset that is associated with VOIP can make you and your business far more efficient than you probably thought possible. With a regular means of communication, like a telephone for example, you have to be able to do two things at once, and concentrate on both if you happen to be using it for work. It can be a pain holding a phone, whether a regular phone or a mobile phone, and writing, typing or searching for information at the same time. There is absolutely no way that you can focus on the conversation and the task in hand because holding the phone itself is inconvenience! With a VOIP headset, you have both hands free and can be far more efficient as a result.

• If you’re using VOIP at home, you can chat with someone over the Internet via the headset and browse too - It may be that you are looking at something at the same time your friend is. Whilst this applies to VOIP in general, the headset allows you to have both hands free to browse. This is a major benefit to those using VOIP outside of the office.

• The headsets associated with VOIP are actually multitalented in terms of what they can do - Not only can you make calls over them, you can also listen to music and make voice recordings, amongst other things, so they serve many purposes. As a result, you do not have to buy another set of headphones for everything else. This can save you a lot of money.

• There are extensive health benefits, such as posture and a better level of hearing - For example, you can move around freely with a headset instead of being chained to your desk whilst on the phone. You can stand up, walk around a little (especially with the cordless variety) and stretch whilst still connected to your VOIP call. This reduces the chances of you slouching. In terms of your hearing, there are extra features added on to the most hi-tech of headsets that allow you to reduce background noise so that your hearing is not affected. There are also regular volume controls, which are also beneficial to your health.

• Ease of use – The headsets are infinitely easy to use. All you have to do is plug them into your computer, or add the software if it is a cordless headset, and away you go! The majority of them simply plug in at the side of your system and work right away, so the initial set up takes literally seconds. There is nothing complicated about how they work. Even if they have extra features, they are easy enough to figure out and so can be used by even the worst of technophobes!

In summary, VOIP headsets are easy to use, great for improving efficiency and extremely convenient. What more could you ask for? They can be used at home or in the office and can be plugged into to various forms of technology, as well as your computer! However, before purchasing a VOIP headset, be sure to check whether or not it has operating system requirements because some headsets only work on certain systems. Providing you purchase the right one, the headsets, and VOIP in general, can make your work and home life so much easier and so much more enjoyable that you will wonder what you ever did without this technology!

Gps basic information

GPS or Global Positioning System is a fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System. This system uses an artificial constellation of 24 medium Earth orbit satellites. These satellites transmit microwave signals, thus enabling a GPS receiver to determine its location, speed, direction and time. This system was developed by United States Department of Defense and was named as NAVSTAR GPS which was given by Mr. John Walsh.

This satellite constellation is managed by United States Air Force 50th Space Wing. The cost is approximately 750 US dollars every year, including the maintenance cost, replacement, research and development. After shoot down of Korean Air Lines Flight 007 in the year 1983, a directive was issued which made the GPS available for civilian use and has been used extensively since then. It has become a very useful tool for making maps, surveying landscapes, commerce and many scientific uses. It also provides time reference which can be used in many applications which include study of earthquake and telecommunication network synchronization.

A GPS receiver simply calculates the distance between itself and three more GPS satellite. Each satellite has an atomic clock in it continually transmits certain data containing its exact time, location of the transmitting satellite and the almanac. The receiver then measures the reception time of the signal. Thus the distance to each satellite is known. Knowing three such distances, a trilateration is formed. By using a fourth satellite, need for a clock at receiver is avoided.

The Global Positioning System is used in a variety of Military and Civilian Applications. It allows soldiers find their objectives in a dark or completely unfamiliar territory and coordinate troop movement and supplies. GPS receivers which military personnel use are called Commanders and Soldier Digital Assistants. A combination of GPS and communication through radio enables real time vehicle tracking.

It is also used in marking targets as hostile and enables the precision guided munitions to allow them engage these targets with high accuracy. Air to Ground roles of military aircrafts use GPS to find targets. GPS also allows targeting for military weapons like ICBMs, Cruise missiles, precision guided missile. Artillery based projectiles are embedded with GPS receivers and can withstand forces up to 12,000G. These are used for 155 mm Howitzers. Any Downed pilot can be easily located if he has GPS receiver. It is widely used by military for reconnaissance and mapping. Some GPS satellites also have nuclear detonation detectors.

GPS helps civilians a lot in surveying and navigation. Its ability to calculate local speed and orientation is extremely useful. Time transfer is possible because of its capability to synchronize clock. A widely used example of use of GPS is CDMA digital cell phone. Each base uses a GPS timing receiver to synchronize the codes with different base stations and thus making it easy inter-cellular hand off and thus support emergency phone calls and other many applications. GPS equipment has also revolutionized tectonics by measuring the fault motion during earthquakes.

The two GPS developers, Ivan Getting and Bradford Parkinson have received national academy of Engineering Charles Stark Draper prize during year 2003. Roger L Easton received National Medal for technology on February 13, 2006. Other similar tracking systems are Beidou, which has been developed by China and is proposed to be expanded into COMPASS; Galilieo, which is been developed by European Union along with many other countries like India and China; GLONASS, which is been developed by Russia is fully available in partnership with India; IRNSS is India`s proposed regional system and QZSS which has been proposed by Japan.

Ergonomics at work osha is on the job

The French poet Charles Baudelaire observed back in the 1800s, “Inspiration comes of working every day.” Most people do work every day, and unfortunately it’s not only inspiration that comes of it. Repetitive stress injuries (RSI) are also the result of every day tasks performed again and again while operating a computer. Relief is in sight, however, thanks in part to a particular government agency. This organization is raising awareness and promoting solutions 24/7.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has a mandate to protect employees from being hurt in the workplace. James Hodgson, Secretary of Labor, established OSHA within his department in 1971. This was in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, legislation he helped author. For the first time in U. S. history, the government stepped in to make sure that workers were as protected as possible from illness, injury, and death on the job. And OSHA had its work cut out for it. Construction, chemical, and agricultural workers were among the many who needed better safety standards in their industries.

But as computer use rose, and the related RSI grew, OSHA turned its attention to this new problem. In recent years, OSHA has developed a four part program designed to reduce injuries and illnesses associated with computer use on the job. The four parts are

Guidelines, Outreach and Assistance, Enforcement, and the National Advisory Committee.

Guidelines are recommended practices that are developed for specific tasks and industries. These are voluntary, not mandatory. Employers use the guidelines to identify and modify risks in the workplace. Implementing these practices reduces injuries related to the way people do their jobs.

The Outreach and Assistance component of this program is aimed at businesses of all sizes. OSHA wants companies to take a proactive stance when it comes to preventing RSI. To help employers, OSHA designed an extensive array of tools that educate, analyze, and train people regarding the ergonomics of their jobs. Available to the public for free on the OSHA website, the computer workstation portion of the Ergonomics eTools is a comprehensive guide to proper computing techniques.

Included in this section is:

Good Working Position (talks about every part of the body and what the best placement is for preventing RSI)

Workstation Components (all the technology and furniture you commonly use is listed here with possible hazards, solutions, and tips)

Checklist (a great way to evaluate how you’re doing ergonomically while you operate a computer)

Work Process (focuses on the physical movements of computer use, with hazards to watch for, more solutions, and tips)

Workstation Environment (information about factors people often don’t think about such as lighting, ventilation, and glare)

But Outreach and Assistance is more than the Ergonomic eTools. It has industry guidelines, cooperative programs, ergonomic analysis info, and success stories. It even has a checklist with tips for new purchases. It is chock full of valuable information for everyone from the individual computer user to the captains of industry.

OSHA persists in its campaign to help employers and employees prevent Repetitive Stress Injuries. If the folks at OSHA have their way, inspiration will be the only result of long hours of work in front of a computer. Baudelaire would approve

Fun robots for less than 30

Did you know that there are a host of robots that you can purchase in the market today that are loads of fun to have around the house? The great news is that they are not that expensive. The following are some of the more popular robots available for less than $30. You will be amazed at what they can do.

The first of our cheap yet chintzy robots is called the Idog and is promoted as a robotic pooch. It looks pretty odd, actually. One reviewer said it resembles "a collision between a bag of marshmallows and a cell phone, with vague canine overtones." The cool thing about this dog is that you feed it with music and it enthusiastically shows its delight through a series of movements and blinking lights. The robot canine can wiggle its ears, sway its head and flash its eyes in tune to the music. Manufacturers say the dog will actually develop a "personality" in accordance to the music you feed it.

The "Shooter Bots: The Game" toy consists of a robot tank that tracks people down and a gun that you use to shoot at the tank. The Shooter Bots can track and follow you around the house wherever you go using the gun as a homing device and then shoot you with its red laser ammunition. If you think hiding will be your salvation, you underestimate the darn thing. For instance, if you decide to hide behind the door, the robot can bounce its infrared light off a nearby shiny object to hit you on the rebound.

The Mini Roboraptor from WowWee Robotics looks like one of those terrible raptors on the "Jurassic Park" film series but this one is made of silver and white plastic. No, it doesn't growl or attack other stuff and rip it to shreds like those other raptors. Mainly, the robot dinosaur just walks around the room as if searching for prey.

The Amatron Robotic Arm from Edu Science is not a whole robot but a mechanical arm that moves. A push of a button will retract the arm while another button controls its claw to pick up and grip objects. Overall, it’s an interesting device and a great conversation piece.
